Thank you for getting in touch. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been experiencing.

Here’s a little about how we work, so you have a clear idea of the next steps:

  • Waiting list placement: All of our therapists are currently fully booked. If you’d like, we can add you to our general waiting list or to a specific therapist’s waiting list. You can view therapist profiles on our website, including their training, specialisms, and experience, to help you understand the team, but selecting a specific therapist may extend your wait time:  www.icocd.co.uk/therapists

  • How therapy works: Our primary therapeutic approaches at the centre include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which we integrate with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). We continue to explore emerging therapies as they are developed and supported by evidence. Each of our therapists brings training in various therapeutic modalities. However, all are specifically trained in both ERP and ACT. All of our therapists are specialists in treating OCD, including all themes and subtypes. ERP, considered the gold standard for treating OCD, involves gradually confronting OCD-related fears while reducing compulsions. This process helps retrain the brain to respond with less anxiety and other uncomfortable emotions. ACT complements this by teaching skills to accept uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, while helping individuals move toward a life guided by their values. www.icocd.co.uk/treatment

  • Triage and assessment: We don't offer separate triage consultations before therapy begins because this isn't part of our standard process and would take significant time away from ongoing therapy. All of our therapists are trained in ERP and ACT and are specialists in OCD. They are able to assess honestly during your first session whether they can work with you, and if not, they will provide guidance or signpost to other appropriate support. If you would like a formal assessment before beginning therapy, we can offer this for £330. This can help clarify whether OCD is present and guide the next steps in treatment. The assessment includes a comprehensive 120-minute clinical interview followed by a written report outlining the clinical formulation and treatment recommendations. www.icocd.co.uk/faqs

  • Initial contact: When therapists have available slots, we'll send you a list of available therapists and their offered times. You can then choose a session with the therapist that works best for you, or remain on the waiting list if none of the options are suitable. Once you've made your choice, we'll put you in touch with the therapist via email. From there, you can ask any questions or discuss concerns. Some of our therapists also offer a free 15-minute introductory call, however, this isn't part of our standard policy and is offered at the therapist’s discretion.

  • Starting therapy: The therapist will then schedule your first session or introductory appointment, which is charged at the usual session rate.

  • Fit and alternatives: If, after starting therapy, it doesn't feel like a good match, we can keep you on the waiting list and/or offer an alternative therapist if one is available.

Waiting List

If you would like me to add you to our general waiting list, or a specific therapist’s waiting list, please let me know.

Additionally, to add you to our waiting list, please provide the following information:

  • Your full name, date of birth, location (town/city/country), contact number, and email address.

  • Your availability (Most of our therapists are available Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. Occasionally, evening and weekend slots may become available, but requesting these may significantly increase your wait time.

  • Whether you're looking for online therapy, face-to-face sessions, or are open to either (most of our therapists work online, so requesting in-person sessions may also extend your wait time).

  • Any background information you think may be helpful, such as themes of OCD, how long it’s been ongoing, past therapies tried, or any previous risk (e.g., self-harm). Please only share what you feel is important, as a full assessment will be carried out when you meet with one of our therapists.

Additional Information:

  • Currently, we do not offer therapy directly through insurance because the provided rates are not viable for running a specialist OCD service. Some of our clients have arrangements with their insurance providers that allow them to be reimbursed for sessions after payment. If this works for you, we can provide receipts for your sessions.

  • Because our centre is VAT registered, UK-based clients are charged an additional 20% VAT on psychotherapist/counsellor sessions. VAT does not apply to psychotherapist/counsellor sessions for clients outside the UK. Clinical psychologist sessions are VAT-exempt, so fees remain the same regardless of client location.

  • For international payments (clients outside the UK), your bank may charge a small fee when paying via Stripe (our payment provider).

Low Cost 10 Week ACT Skills Group Course

We also offer a low cost 10-week online ACT Skills for OCD Recovery group course, run by Jonny Say on Thursday evenings at 7pm UK with around 10-20 participants. It covers the same ACT and ERP skills used in 1-2-1 therapy, with the added benefit of learning alongside others working on OCD recovery. Attendance at every session is not essential as all sessions are recorded and handouts/audio materials are shared so you can catch up at any time.

The total cost for the 10-week group course is £600 (£60 per session) for UK clients. For clients based outside the UK, the cost is £500. This difference is due to VAT, as the centre is VAT registered.
Payment can be spread across the 10 weeks on an interest-free basis if preferred.
To reserve a place on the course or to discuss payment options, please reply to this email.
