Jonny is recognised as a skilled and compassionate clinician working with OCD. He emphasises an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy focused approach to Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy. He integrates Compassion Focused Therapy into this process to help clients develop a more supportive approach to themselves and their recovery. This means he approaches ERP emphasizing the development of psychological skills, connection to core values & meaningful goals all embedded in a compassionate approach. He has appeared a number of times on ‘the OCD Stories’ podcast and is the resident therapist on the OCD Stories Camp.
Jonny has extensive experience of working with clients who have struggled with OCD recovery. This includes clients that have had a number of rounds of CBT/ERP and are still struggling with OCD, clients with complex comorbidities including trauma histories (PTSD/CPTSD), clients with inpatient treatment histories, eating disorders and addictions. He has experience of offering OCD groups that have focused on integrating ACT into ERP for clients that have struggled with a purely CBT approach.
He has lived experience of OCD and recovery which he draws from in his work. He is passionate about synthesizing the most effective approaches to treatment which drives him to learn from top supervisors, theorists & trainers, but primarily learning from his clients experience of OCD recovery and barriers to recovery.
He has NHS experience in a number of London trusts. He has worked for the Compassion Focused Therapy company Balanced Minds for a number of years enabling him to learn from top CFT and CBT therapists. He has experience of working with a wide range of other difficulties through this experience, from Personality Disorders, Psychosis, Eating Disorders, Chronic Health Conditions and more.
